Dragons are mythical creatures. They are found in cultures throughout the globe. The dragon is shown with a body covered in reptilian scales, an elongated neck and body somewhat like a snake, but typically with four limbs. Usually the limbs are more similar to a bird of prey than a reptile, with long talons. While wings are typical of the dragons of the western cultures, the dragon of the eastern cultures are usually wingless. The ability to breathe fire is also an attribute of the western form, not found in the eastern depictions.
Dragons are supposed to have magical or spiritual attributes important to various religions and cultures. The dragon represents the primal forces of nature, with wisdom, and longevity. They are often associated with wells, rain, and rivers. The dragon designs shown here show the wide range of forms of dragons, and some new forms not yet a part of popular culture.
